When asked, a worker says, "We are creating a great protector. Eons ago, a great star fell from the heavens and landed here. We are finally able to harness its power. Go. Take a look!"[break][break]

You enter the incomplete tomb to see a large chunk of some unknown purple material. Red veins pulse throughout it like blood—or poison. It emanates a great power. Before it, several boulders are set against each other.

Young though she may be, immature though her world view could be, Eris knows much. He needs her mind. He needs her to help him see, understand, investigate.[break][break]
In another lifetime, he had been a detective. Every good detective needs an assistant. So here they are, here they sit. Here they plot. Wanting to see where this goes, he stands up and wipes the remnants of offered soup out of his beard. Doubtless, none of the food in here will really fill him.[break][break]

“Yeah?” He walks outside and conjures for them transportation. If Eris prefers to ride one of his horses, he’s happy to provide. Otherwise, trusting she wishes to ride along on Reiner, he sets off on Thin Lizzy.[break][break]
They move at a leisurely pace. The ruins aren’t far off, but it is a hike. He’d hate to make this trek on foot. Luckily, the sheriff came prepared. Lizzy yawns, bored. Compared to what they saw in the simulated scarlet book, she finds this place boring. It forces her to use her arms, not her wheels. Navy muses that she needs the workout.[break][break]
“Desert ruins? More like the desert construction site, what with how it looks now.” He chuckles at his own joke. Time plays funny tricks on the mind. “Wait. That’s where…that’s where Kyle and the rest fought…”[break][break]
His knuckles go tight on the clutch.[break][break]
“Huh.”

In the meantime, Navy seems to have made the same connection that she has. Only that he seems a lot more rigid than she does on the matter. Bad experiences tend to do that, even if they're not your own.[break][break]

"What do you think the great star is? From the heavens?" She asks, and yet she knows that they are bound to find out as soon as they step into those... to-be ruins(?).

His answer is blunt, and makes him feel stupid. Three words. Three words most people on Hoenn are probably two proud to say.[break][break]
“I don’t know.” He was, after all, never very good at puzzling things out. Not unless he has kyle lopez to spell it out for him, or someone else to load the correct bullet in the barrel. Once it’s given, very few can say it with his panache. It feels less the relationship between partner detectives and more that of a writer and actor.[break][break]
“I…only finished eighth grade. And never really had much time to learn, growing up.” Somehow, he doubts he’ll get why there is some great shame concerning that point.[break][break]
Before them is the tomb, and the people long in their graves who forged it into the ruined state it is in the where and when of Navy and Eris Halla. Workers look to them with pride.[break][break]

If only the 'whatever' didn't entail the rather horrifying realisation within. The ominous colours, the immediate sense of unease she gets just from looking at it.[break][break]

“ORAAAAA” Shuwen acts where Navy gawks. When faced with the enemy of all mankind, the legendary bear does what it knows best: fights. His fist slams into the wishing star. [break][break]

All of you come to and see that the mysterious material is pulsing. With every pulse, the purple chunk begins to manipulate the spatial elements of reality around it and yourselves. Paranoia begins to settle in... before the scenario shifts.

“Gee. Didn’t think it would feel so,” he looks around and sees they are adrift in a lake, “feel so real.”[break][break]
The cat upon the shore is ailing. Dying. Close to its end. Instinct demands he rush to help it, but Eris has other notions. Wading through the shallows, the depths call to him. It calls to them both. Eris does not speak a word. Reiner at her side, she dives. Dives down into water deep enough to drown.[break][break]
“Eris!” Without hesitation, he dives in after her. No compulsion upon his will is needed. When she dives, so does he. His body is filled with an urgent need to pull her back up. She can’t die on him. Not in here. Not with his mind awash in magenta-dyed paranoia.
